ESTABLISHING THE FACTS

Before a customer can be advised on the most suitable adhesive hook or Hang Tag to be used in their situation, a number of important facts regarding the product to be hung must be established first.  Asking or finding out the answers to the following questions will enable the correct solution to be found quickly.

(1)

What style is required? - A Hook, a Euroslot or a Hole.  (Be careful with the answer, as some people classify every design as a Hook)

(2) Is the objective to hang the product, or reinforce an existing hanging facility? i.e. a punched slot.

(3)

What is the product?  (This will give you a good idea of the product weight, size and how it will hang).

(4)

How heavy is it?  (Knowing the exact weight will help you to decide on the right adhesive type and area).

(5)

What is the pack size?  (This will indicate to you how the pack will hang).

(6)

What surface will the adhesive have to stick to?  Some hooks will adhere better to one material than another, i.e. card, paper, board, polypropylene, acetate etc... are good surfaces whilst polythene, PVC, UV varnish are prone to problems if thorough testing is not carried out.

(7)

What environment will the products be hung in?  Most of the time this will be obvious without asking the question, i.e. a shop.  However, if it is likely to be in an exceptionally hot, damp or cold atmosphere then this could affect the operating performance of the hooks.  Testing is recommended before accepting orders.  The most important point for hooks used in such environments is that the application condition must follow the basic rules of using adhesive. i.e. clean, dry conditions, free from dust, grease etc and at normal room temperature.

(8)

How will the goods be merchandised?  All the same item on one display arm would suit a hook, hole and Euroslot.  But, if different sizes, colours or shapes for example are to be hung on the same display arm it is unlikely a hole or Euroslot will be suitable, because a customer would only have access to the first item.  If the customer has to remove items to gain access to products further back, the customer would be unlikely to replace them after they have selected the item they want.

(9)

How Many?  This will affect price and possibly the presentation or format that is to be recommended.

These questions will allow us to gain the maximum amount of information and therefore be able to recommend the best performing tag for your individual product.
